'We’re sad and humbled by the death of such a true gentlemen, friend and recording Artist of the label for over 20 years. Phil will be remembered through his liberating songs and music career spanning over half a century.'
Frederick Jude MD Snapper Music

Snapper Music acquired the Pretty Things' catalogue back in 1997, they were one of the first frontline bands to be signed to the label and we are proud to say they are still a rostered artist to this day.

The Pretty Things were fundamental in the development of British music. They enjoyed much critical success and were a huge influence on artists as diverse as David Bowie, Aerosmith, The Ramones, Bob Dylan, The Sex Pistols, The White Stripes, Kasabian, The Lightning Seeds and countless more. Their music has been used in feature films including Guy Ritchie's 'RocknRolla', and on TV shows as recent as Britannia II.

The band created a rich music catalogue including the classic albums The Pretty Things, S.F. Sorrow & Parachute, and remained a significant artistic and creative force throughout their entire 55+ year career. They have continued to release iconic and influential recordings, right up to the present day, with a new album due for release later this year. They also remained a potent live act, as is shown on 'The Final Bow', highlighting their last electric gig at the O2 which featured special guests including Van Morrison and David Gilmour accompanying Phil and The Pretty Things live on stage.

Phil will be sadly missed.

Very sad news, he was a very talented guy and he will be sorely missed. I’m shocked

MANAGEMENT BUYOUT OF INDEPENDENT RECORD LABEL SNAPPER MUSIC

"After 21 years at Snapper and MD for the last 13 years, I’m truly excited to have become the majority shareholder of The Snapper Group.

At Snapper we’re continuing to evolve and move with the differing ways people consume music - building on specialist music genres with Kscope and Peaceville labels and successfully elevating some of our artists to the top of those genres.

Our heart is firmly in beautiful, physical packages and we’re continuing to learn how best to use today’s digital marketing tools to encourage fans to become aware & listen to music from our 12,000 song catalogue.

We maintain a family feel with our Artists, many of whom we the have their entire catalogue or majority recording history."
